Swim Champ Katie Ledecky Shattered Michael Phelps' Record

Updated: Aug 31, 2023

Simply mind-blowing! WORLD TITLE NUMBER 16 for Katie Ledecky! She broke Michael Phelps' record for the most individual career swimming world titles. She made history by winning her 6th world championship in the women's 800m. What an incredible feat!

Ledecky also won the 1500m freestyle World Title by so much distance, she was the only person on camera when she finished the race. Katie swam so fast, she looked like she was the only one in the race. She's the current World Record holder in the 800m and 1500m freestyle. She's proven she's THE Champion - the best freestyle swimmer of all time!

How does she do it? She doesn't possess gills or webbed feet. It's pure practice and determination. She works very hard every day and sets lofty goals. After the Tokyo Olympics, she left her training base at Stanford University. She moved to Gainesville, FL to join Olympic gold medalist Nesty and his group of male distance swimmers. She's learned a lot by racing and training with the guys. Clearly, this is working for her and pushes her to keep surpassing her goals.

"I would encourage you to set really high goals. Set goals that, when you set them, you think they’re impossible. But then every day you can work towards them, and anything is possible, so keep working hard and follow your dreams.” – Katie Ledecky to the New York Times
