Chiefs Beat the 49ers in OT during Super Bowl 2024 - 49ers Fire Wilks - Chiefs Parade Massacre

Super Bowl LVIII has been filled with dramatic twists and turns; a nail-biting game, a bungled punt, tie game and overtime, OT rules controversy, the 49ers fire defense coordinator, and the Chiefs celebration parade was ruined with gunfire. The game began strong for the 49ers as they led the first half of the game. The Niner's defense played very well by holding the Chiefs to under 20 points. The play that seemed to change the course was a muffed punt, CMC fumbled and the Niners were unable to score in crunch time to win the game. Chiefs fought hard in the second half by tying at the end of the 4th quarter, taking the game into overtime. At the coin toss decision, the 49ers decided to play the ball first. Chiefs ended up winning the game by a touchdown, 25 to 22. Not sure which team was in more shock. After the new overtime rule changes, the 49ers playing first may have cost them the game.

The 49ers head coach, Kyle Shanahan, and players defended their actions by saying they didn't know about the OT rules changes. When the Chiefs were questioned about it, they stated they knew and practiced drills during their training camp to make sure they all understood the changes.

By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail - Benjamin Franklin

Was it Shanahan's fault that the team was uneducated and untrained? It's a coach's job to ensure the team knows what is expected of them. Shanahan failed to prepare his team properly with the new overtime rules. Will Shanahan be fired for this failure? Right now, it looks like the answer is no. Instead, Steve Wilks, the defense coordinator has become the "fall guy" even though the 49ers defense has played strong all season and in the Super Bowl. This seems completely unjust. Would Wilks still have been fired if the 49ers had won Super Bowl LVIII?

Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Parade

Yesterday's Kansas City Chiefs celebration parade began triumphantly but ended in tragedy. Several people are in police custody after open-firing into the parade crowds, leading to one death and 21 people injured or shot, 9 of which were children. Our hearts and prayers go out to those affected by the shooting 😞
